DMP Club - Meeting #3

This week was a fun and informative one indeed! And it all started with the two folks who showed up jumping in a car to drive to Glazer's Camera in downtown Seattle.

We got there around 11am and took the first 45 minutes or so to browse around the whole store to check out all the various areas and gear they have on the shelves. From Olympus, Sony, Canon, Nikon, Panasonic on through to the Leica, Pentax, Hasselblad, Zeiss, and all the other exotic, lomo, and photography gear one could dream about. The video section had a few gems as well in the Canon C100 with a Canon Cinema lens mounted on it. Lots of peripheral gear, like external monitors, fluid head tripods, dolly systems, and audio equipment. It is always cool to see what's out there!

We each fiddled around with a couple cameras that caught our attention before heading over to the separate lighting store across the street. That was another impressive array of gear and equipment of a different type... all of the behind the scenes stuff from lighting to sandbags. Another excellent resource for sure.

Then we headed to the rental store around the corner for a low-down on the rental process and looked at their list of some of what is available. The place basically has everything you could possibly need if you can't borrow it from the school(at a fair price according to rental rates, no less!). Here is their complete list of the current gear and pricing:

It is definitely nice to know there is such an excellent resource so close to school. I know we are all poor students, and affording most of the goodies you can find there is certainly not easy at the moment, but getting a good idea of what is out there and planning for the future is always a good idea!
